The Chakras are organizational centres for receiving, assimilating, storing and expressing the life force energy throughout the body. In this series we will use yoga, bio-energetic exercises, breathing practices, sounding and meditation to clear out old blockages in these centers, gaining insight into our development and bringing more ease and vitality to body, mind, and spirit.
The Heart Chakra, Anahata, meaning unstruck, takes us into the element of air and the realm of love and compassion. Associations in the body are with chest, lungs, diaphragm, shoulders, arms, hands, heart, blood, and the respiratory and circulatory system. As we open the chest and expand the breath we are consciously choosing to let go of old defensive patterns and to cultivating more harmonious qualities such as unconditional love, empathy, compassion, generosity, forgiveness, and trust. In healing the heart chakra, we literally open the gateway from earth to heaven and heaven to earth. Learning to love and respect ourselves on our own and in relation to others, we create a strong balance within for integrating the personal and universal energies. Come open to the joy and wisdom in your heart!
